Original description Chrysis viridi-aurea, capite coeruleo; abdominis apice integro. Habitat passim in Liguria, haud infrequens. Long. 2½ lin. Lat. 1. lin.

Foemina. Antennae nigrae, articulo primo caeruleo. Caput viridi nitens, vertice atro-caeruleo. Thorax versicolor, minus splendens quàm in cospeciebus, viridi-aureus et etiam alicubi sordide purpurascens: macula media quadrata lobique scutellaris parte posteriore fere omnino viridibus. Abdomen thoraci concolor, apice rotundato integro. Corpus subtus viride. Pedes viridi-coerulei, tarsis nigris. Alae obscurae.

Mas. Omnino similis, tarsis tantum pallidis. Tarsi testacei vel pallidi saepe, hoc in genere, marium constituunt peculiarem characterem.

Chrysis versicolor proxima videtur Chrys. Gloriosa Fab. et hybridae Lepel. Sed sententia amborum naturae scrutatotum D. Latreille et D. Lepeletier multis characteribus ab ipsis discrepat. D. Lepeletier in epistola data die 21 mense 8.bris anno 1807, “ Chrys. hybride, male. L'individu envoyé sous ce nom par M. Spinola est un mâle…......, il diffère de l'Hybrida et du Gloriosa, Fab par ces tarses pâles et autres caractères qui me le font regarder comme nouveau.” et D. Latreille in epistola altera data die 15 mense 8.bris anno 1807. “11. Chrys..... Je la crois différente du Gloriosa” Chrys. gloriosa et hybrida in Liguria nondum inventae et mihi invisae.
